Resilence

The Thai Chamber’s head office had been briefly located at Siam Hotel Building before moving to a new location on Mahachai Road, Wang Burapha, and, subsequently, at  I.E.C . Building, S.A.B. Intersection. Mr. Virach Phungsoondara, a board member and an author of the book “History of Thai Chamber of Commerce First Edition” (B.E. 2492), described the working conditions of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in that period as very small and crowded with only two small rooms, limiting the growth of the organization. Suffice to say, that the Thai Chamber of Commerce was barely holding together at this point

The board members of the Thai Chamber of Commerce could not tolerate this declining state of the organization. Therefore, the new capable chairman and board members of the Thai Chamber of Commerce had to be carefully chosen from qualified candidates to lead the organization into a prosperous future.

On 12 July B.E. 2483, Mr. Chulin Lamsam was appointed as the chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. The head office was later again moved to a commercial building on Si Ayutthaya Road, Suea Pa (opposite to Wat Benjamabophit) on 27 December B.E. 2483. The board members were not only following the mission of the organization but also expanding its operation. A great example is when the Thai Chamber of Commerce was assigned to set up a shop for Thai consumable goods in the annual Thai constitution celebration fair in which many Thai merchants and industrialists were invited to sell their products in this fair. As a result, many of them were awarded medals and trophies jointly from the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Commerce to honor their products. The success of this event was marked as one of the undertaking initiatives to improve and leverage Thai merchants and businesses.
