One of the interesting facts mentioned in Mr.Lek Komes's funeral memorial book is the political turmoil in that period of Thailand’s history. The government's obsession with the change of regime had caused long-lasting sufferings to every geopolitical facet of Thailand including the Thai Chamber Of Commerce.
Apart from the unstable political predicament, the Thai Chamber of Commerce was privately funded solely by members of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. At that time, the concept of the chamber of commerce was foreign to the majority of Thai people. Many business people truly didn’t understand the importance and duty of the organization. Therefore, the word “suffering” truly captured the essence of struggling in every sense of the word.
In the inception phase of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the organization's head office was located in Captain Bush Lane, Si Phraya Road. The Thai Chamber of Commerce had committed to its mission to provide support and benefits to the members in many aspects, such as providing a place for the community to exchange and thrive, strengthening the unity between members, and inviting honorable guest speakers to provide an informative business seminar. After years of service, the prosperity in the early period was declining as the members were too preoccupied with their matters and agendas to attend to the organization’s matters. Consequently, on 22 April B.E. 2480, the next board members decided to vote to move the location of the commercial building owned by the Office of the Privy Purse on Rama One road.
