และถนนสายแรกของประเทศไทย\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>การจัดสร้างซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติฯ นี้ เกิดจากการรวมพลังความสามัคคี ความจงรักภักดีและความกตัญญูกตเวทิตาของปวงพสกนิกร  ในโอกาสเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา ๖ รอบ ๒๘ กรกฎาคม พุทธศักราช ๒๕๖๗ เพื่อเป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่บ่งบอกถึงความร่มเย็นเป็นสุขเสมอมาของปวงชน ภายใต้พระบารมีปกเกล้าปกกระหม่อม   ด้วยพระบุญญาธิการอันเป็นจิรัฎฐิติกาล และพระบรมเดชานุภาพแห่งใต้ฝ่าละอองธุลีพระบาท บันดาลให้การรวมพลังแห่งแผ่นดินครั้งนี้ สัมฤทธิ์ผลสมบูรณ์ ดังปาฏิหาริย์ ภายในระยะเวลาเพียง ๖ เดือน\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>ซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติฯ นี้  เป็นสถาปัตยกรรมซึ่งรังสรรค์โดยการผสมผสานทางศิลปวัฒนธรรมชั้นสูงของอารยธรรมไทย-จีน  และโดยที่ปีพุทธศักราช ๒๕๖๘ นี้เป็นโอกาสครบ ๕๐ ปีแห่งสัมพันธภาพระหว่างราชอาณาจักรไทย กับสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน  รัฐบาลสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน โดยสถานเอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณประชาชนจีนประจำประเทศไทย  ได้ร่วมเทิดพระเกียรติด้วยการมอบประติมากรรมมงคล ช้าง, สิงห์ และกลอง แกะสลักจากหินอ่อนหยกขาว “ฮั่นไป๋ยู่”  มาประดิษฐานบนฐานปัทม์อันเป็นศิลปกรรมไทยซึ่งออกแบบโดยกรมศิลปากร  สะท้อนความมั่นคง-ยั่งยืนแห่งสายสัมพันธ์อันแน่นแฟ้นระหว่างราชอาณาจักรไทยกับสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน ซุ้มประตูนี้จะเป็นหมุดหมายแห่งใหม่ที่สำคัญของประเทศในด้านการท่องเที่ยวเชิงประวัติศาสตร์ วัฒนธรรม ทั้งยังส่งผลเชิงบวกต่อความเจริญยิ่งขึ้นของเศรษฐกิจและสังคมการที่ใต้ฝ่าละอองธุลีพระบาท พร้อมด้วยสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินี  ทรงมีพระมหากรุณาธิคุณเสด็จพระราชดำเนินมาทรงประกอบพิธีเปิดแพรคลุมป้ายซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติ ๗๒ พรรษา ในวันนี้ เป็นความปลื้มปีติ โสมนัสยิ่ง แก่ปวงข้าพระพุทธเจ้าทั้งหลาย และเป็นศุภนิมิตแห่งความรุ่งโรจน์ สว่างไสว ด้วยพระบารมีปกเกล้าปกกระหม่อมปวงพสกนิกร ทั้งผู้ที่มีนิวาสถานในอาณาบริเวณนี้ และที่สัญจรไปมา ทั้งชาวไทยและนานาชาติ  ชื่งได้มีโอกาสชมพระบารมีโดยใกล้ชิด พร้อมทั้งชื่นชมสถาปัตยกรรมอันวิจิตรงดงามด้วยอารยธรรม\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>การที่ใต้ฝ่าละอองธุลีพระบาท พร้อมด้วยสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินี  ทรงมีพระมหากรุณาธิคุณเสด็จพระราชดำเนินมาทรงประกอบพิธีเปิดแพรคลุมป้ายซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติ ๗๒ พรรษา ในวันนี้ เป็นความปลื้มปีติ โสมนัสยิ่ง แก่ปวงข้าพระพุทธเจ้าทั้งหลาย พรรษา”\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เสด็จออกจากพลับพลาพิธี  ไปยังแท่นพิธี ทรงกดปุ่มไฟฟ้าเปิดแพรคลุมป้ายชื่อซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติ “วชิรสถิต ๗๒ พรรษา” และ “วชิรธำรง ๗๒ พรรษา” โดยพระสงฆ์เจริญชัยมงคลคาถา ชาวพนักงานลั่นฆ้องชัย ประโคมสังข์ แตร ดุริยางค์ เมื่อเสด็จเข้าพลับพลาพิธี ทรงประเคนจตุปัจจัยไทยธรรมถวายพระสงฆ์พระสงฆ์ถวายอนุโมทนา ถวายอดิเรก\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>ต่อมา นายสนั่น อังอุบลกุล ประธานหอการค้าไทย และสภาหอการค้าแห่งประเทศไทย กราบบังคมทูลเบิกผู้สนับสนุนโครงการฯ ขอพระราชทานพระบรมราชานุญาตเบิกคณะกรรมการฯ องค์กรภาคี เครือข่าย และผู้ให้การสนับสนุนการจัดสร้างซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติฯ เข้าทูลเกล้าฯ ถวายของที่ระลึก จำนวน ๑๘ ราย เข้ารับพระราชทานเข็มที่ระลึก จำนวน ๒๐๐ ราย จากนั้น พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เสด็จฯ ไปทรงกราบหน้าเครื่องนมัสการ ทรงลาพระสงฆ์ ประทับพระราชอิริยาบท ตามพระราชอัธยาศัย เสด็จออกจากห้องประทับรับรองไปยังที่ฉายพระบรมฉายาลักษณ์หน้าซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติ “วชิรสถิต ๗๒ พรรษา” ฉายพระบรมฉายาลักษณ์ร่วมกับ สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินี คณะกรรมการดำเนินการจัดสร้างซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติ และผู้สนับสนุนโครงการฯ บริเวณหน้าซุ้มประตูเฉลิมพระเกียรติ “วชิรสถิต ๗๒ พรรษา” จำนวน ๒ ชุดๆ ทรงมีพระมหากรุณาธิคุณให้คณะกรรมการหอการค้าไทย-จีน สมาคมแต้จิ๋วแห่งประเทศไทย และสมาคมจีนเก้าภาษา  สหสมาคมตระกูลแซ่แห่งประเทศไทย และ องค์กรชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนทั้งประเทศ จำนวน ๓๐ รายทูลเกล้าฯ
